Marshall had the scoop, and now it is official, Video Units are live, or at least have been announced (I still don’t see the option in my adsense setup). Definitely interested in trying out the ads and seeing how they might serve relevant material on a very niche set of topics.

What does this mean? I agree with Marshall; this has the potential to be a killer feature. It also provides YouTube content providers and adsense publishers with a lucrative option for generating revenue which will be split between YouTube content partners, publishers and Google. Ads are going to be served as text overlays, as well as companion ads and can be contextually targeted and site targeted.

I see a new usage trend of YouTube users. Right now, average users, e.g. me, don’t have the option of becoming content partners, but I see that changing. The landscape changeth … fast
